Smart Grocery ("we", "our", or "the app") helps you organize shopping, track your pantry, and reduce food waste. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over your data.

Information you provide

When you use Smart Grocery you may upload or enter:

  • Account details (email, display name).
  • Shopping lists and list items you create.
  • Pantry information (product names, quantities, categories, expiration dates, optional images and nutrition data).
  • Photos of grocery receipts and the items, prices, and store details extracted from them.
  • Messages you send to the in-app AI Assistant.

How we use your data

  • To operate core features: shopping lists, pantry tracking, expiration reminders, spending analytics, and receipt scanning.
  • To personalize AI Assistant answers using your current pantry and lists.
  • To secure your account and prevent abuse.

We do not sell your personal data.

Receipts and pantry data

Receipts you upload are processed by our AI provider to extract items, prices, and store details. The extracted structured data is stored against your account so you can review, edit, or delete it at any time. Pantry entries are stored the same way and only visible to you.

AI processing

Messages to the AI Assistant and receipt images are sent to a third-party model provider strictly to generate the response or extract the receipt content. They are not used to train public models.

Data retention & deletion

Your data is kept while your account is active. You can delete any individual list, list item, pantry item, or receipt from within the app at any time.

You can permanently delete your entire account and all associated data (lists, pantry, receipts, profile, AI history) from Settings → Delete Account. This action is immediate and cannot be undone.

Your rights

Depending on your region (e.g. EU/UK GDPR, California CCPA) you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. Contact us via the Contact page to exercise these rights.
